A Letter From Sarah.

sarahHey Everybody,

We’ve got some great news!

Your favorite Music Lesson Studio, Recording Emporium and Petting Zoo*, The Schoolhouse of Rock, is happy to announce their NEW location!!!

Starting this Monday your favorite teachers can be found at:

141 South Park Avenue @

the intersection of Broadway and Park Avenue

Yes, we know what you’re thinking and we are absolutely NOT calling our new location “South Park.” More importantly, however, you’ve probably already noticed that just like the cross streets of the new location the most prestigious properties to own in the game of Monopoly are ALSO “Broadway” and “Park Place (not identical but really close)” and it’s no coincidence that if you have those properties you’re probably already winning and you’re counting the mortgage value of the two Railroads that your Nana owned until she went bankrupt last turn because she couldn’t cough up the rent for the three houses you built on Indiana. Silly Nan!

… Just hope we don’t build hotels. Be realistic: You’ll never be able to pay the rent when all you have is St. James Place and one of the Utilities. Seriously. Amateur.

Anyway, it’s about 5 minutes away from what we will now refer to as the “4th Ave.” location.

So, because you love us so much you’re probably wondering how you can help us. Thank you so much.

We are having a MOVING PARTY!!

Friday, February 17th

AND

Saturday February 18th

Come on down to “4th Ave.” and get some free food, drinks, perform some music spontaneously or watch some people perform some music spontaneously and hey, if you’re bored you might as well grab some boxes and then the new location.

We’ll be raising funds to outfit our new location as well.

* Petting Zoo is closed until further notice due to impracticality and overall lack of existence.

Love,

S*

So, we might be moving…

Hey Everyone,

It’s Sarah. I just realized how easy it is to post on our website. Honestly, I just have not been spending enough time in the office. So I’m making up for that right now and getting reoriented. For instance, the calendar isn’t on the wall anymore and no matter how many times I look at it, the bass drum head that replaced the calendar will NOT tell me what day of the week February 3rd is. Or, did you know that the program we use for scheduling, etc., can actually e-mail receipts to families and teachers? It’s crazy.

Anyway,

If you come to your lesson or drive by the SHOR you might notice some “For Rent” signs on the porch.

EVERYTHING IS OKAY.

There is a 95% chance that we are moving.

To an even better location.

We’ll still be in Tucson and we won’t be very far from the current location.

As much as we adore this location, the price of rent vs. how much money we make from people coming in off of 4th Avenue and signing up for lessons just doesn’t make sense. I have to admit that I really thought being on 4th Avenue would attract a bunch of students. Turns out that it really hasn’t. Instead, our beloved student body is made up of dedicated musicians and their families, and they probably would have found us regardless of our location on 4th Avenue.

Bottom line: wherever we are, lessons will continue. And if everything goes as planned we’ll have a pretty cool place with an actual STAGE. Pretty cool.

So, we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, thank you for your support and dedication. As always, if you know anyone who might want lessons or recording time, or children with special needs who might benefit from music therapy, please refer them to us. Who knew that it was so easy to post on our website.

Time to go. Joseph brought me a snack and I’m getting hummus on the keyboard. And the phone…

LOVE,

Sarah*

Summer Rock Camp!

Our very own Dry Paint has taken this year’s Summer Rock Camp by storm. In the third week they have 2 songs written, a song recorded, and a music video! The future of Tucson’s local music scene looks bright indeed!

In each session of Camp the young musicians at the Schoolhouse of Rock are achieving exactly what they set out to do at the beginning of the week. Write, rockin’ riffs, and make awesome friends in the process. Stay tuned for the video!
